Blackbeard, whose real name was Edward Thatch, was one of the most feared pirates of all time. When he died at sea, way back in 1722, many believe he took to his grave the secret of where he’d stashed millions of dollars in stolen gold.
In 1996 the wreckage of Blackbeard’s ship, Queen Anne’s Revenge, was found off the coast of North Carolina, but, alas, maties… there was no great treasure among the wreckage. So treasure hunters continue to scour the islands and the sea floor off the southern coast for signs of Blackbeard’s booty, looking for tiny clues that might point the way to a big payday. This pirate-themed scavenger hunt is a lot of fun for young party-goers who love the thrill of hunting for treasure. Lucky for the young treasure hunters, the prizes can be found in nature. Your young guests will be sure to have more luck than the folks looking for Blackbeard’s gold. Deb
